I say unfortunately because they had wonderful chocolates! Munching on candy while laying around was a bad idea for the old diet!
Diana had been keeping track of unusual signs we saw along the way.- Thought you might find them interesting. She had seen a sign in Vermont (a beauty shop) named "Curl Up And Dye"! Lol! Thought I'd mention that one!
Here are a few we saw on this trip:
. "Save some dough!- bread 1/2 off" (Billboard, West Chester, Ohio)
. "Big Bore" (Name of a farm in Kentucky)
. "Prices subject to change according to customer's attitude" (Sign in Ruthie's Place- Hodgenville, Kentucky)
. "Cute as a Button" 9Children's shop, Greensburg, Kentucky)
. "Granny's Kontry Kitchen" (Restaurant in New Haven, Kentucky"
. "Bubba's Pay Lake" (Greensburg, Kentucky)
. "Pawfect Salon" (Dog Grooming- Tennessee)
. "Soul Food Sold Here" (Church sign, Tennessee)
. "Guess You Could Say I'm In Outdoor Sales! Rent Me!" (Billboard, Georgia)
. "Granny's Old Bloomers" (Plant nursery, Warm Springs, Georgia)
. "Singing Saw Farm" (Name of a farm, Warm Springs, Georgia)
. "New Or Not" (Clothing store, Warm Springs, Georgia)
. "Hog Wallow BBQ" (Georgia- Di And I didn't think that sounded appetizing! Ha!)
. "Welcome To Florida. Mortality rate 100%! Are You Ready?" (Billboard)
. "Warning! Poisonous Snakes!" (Sign at first rest stop in Florida- not too restful!
. "Muddy Paws" (Dog grooming in Ocala, Florida)
. "Sonny's BBQ- 20 years and still smokin" (Restaurant slogan, Lakeland, Florida)
And last-
. "Get a Load Of This!" (on a cement truck, Dundee, Florida)
We decided to take a ride. Since we had only one destination in mind, a little shop that sold antiques - we thought Gertie GPS would mind her manners! Wrong! What should have taken about 15 minutes to drive ended up being a trip through dirt roads among orange groves and farms. Diana spoke her first harsh words of the day- telling Gertie she was an idiot, among other things!
We ended up at a dead end- looking straight at a lake! What the heck, Gertie! Here we are, stopped- but the little car on Gertie's screen that signified "us" was still going- by all rights it was headed into the lake!
I suggested that Gertie may be having a breakdown and was trying to drowned us! Little creepy thoughts about "Twilight Zone" type stories were trying to invade my mind! We turned around- saw someone walking along the road- and yes- we stopped and asked directions!
We gratefully thanked the person for their directions and returned to the hotel. Never did find the little shop! Needless to say, Gertie did add a bit of excitement to an otherwise sleepy day!
Until Next Time, Dear Readers!
Life Is Indeed An Adventure! And Gertie GPS Was Intent On Making Things Exciting!
