MARCY'S TRAVEL BLOG- FLYING!! THE SCENE BELOW IS A FEAST FOR THE EYES!!!

On my last morning in Harrisville I stood on the beach staring at the sky.  My son Steven was flying in. He always flew over the lake house when he came in to let Bill and Willy know he had arrived.  As I stood watching, the sky grew dark- and then I saw him!  THERE'S MY RIDE!  It was a cool sight!

After circling he headed for the landing strip.

Bill went out to the airport to pick him up.  Surprise!!  My Granddaughter Payton had come along!  Back at the house Willy had prepared a yummy breakfast!  The sky had cleared up and the sun was shinning- so we ate breakfast on the deck!  We loaded up the car and said  a farewell to Willy. Off to the airport we went!

Right away we put on our life jackets to fly over the water.  Bill stayed until we took off.

As we lifted off that same thrill was in my chest!  How I love flying!  I will admit, I spent most of that hour's flight with my nose pressed against the window.

My Granddaughter Payton graciously let me sit up front in the copilots seat!

We flew over Harrisville Harbor of Refuge.

Followed the shore line  we got some great views of one continual beach!

Mother Nature was painting some interesting clouds that morning!

There were boaters out, enjoying the water and sunshine! There was a large sail boat below, but couldn't get a shot of it.  I can only imagine sailing on Lake Huron!  It would be thrilling and a bit scary at the same time! Lake Huron is the second largest of the Great Lakes.  It can be a boater's and fishing paradise- but also treacherous with deadly high winds and storms.  There's been 1,000 known ship wrecks on this lake!

Inside the cockpit is Steven's navigational equipment! Pretty cool!

Once we turned south and were no longer over water we took off our life vests.  I got a quick picture of the three of us.  Not the best of any of us- but that's three generations right there.

Lush fields of gold and green lay below.  I never tire of seeing the land from this view!  Soon we'll be seeing Fall colors everywhere.  But for now, the view is still lush Summer!

Lakes and fields as far as the eye could see!

We were on our final approach to Hyne Field in Brighton, Michigan! See the runway?

This is the road we fly over just before touchdown!

As soon as we landed both Payton and I applauded. Though we landed on the grass strip of the airport the landing was perfect!

Thanks to son Steven I was able to again experience the wonderful world of flight!!  My Heart Is full of gratitude!

Willy- Thank you! I totally agree! Michigan is indeed a beautiful state! It's so diverse in it's terrain! And lakes, both Great and Small are everywhere! One doesn't have to go far to enjoy Mother Nature!
